Know about how Nomenclature of Desi Months or Desi Mahine or Indian Months is done: -

Nomenclature of an Indian month or desi month is done on the basis of the name of the Constellation (Nakshatra) through which the Moon or Chandra is transitting on a Full Moon day in that particular month.

Example (1): - In the Indian month of 'Maagh', Moon will be present on the Magha' nakshatra on Full Moon day.

Example (2): - In the Indian month of 'Shraavan', Moon will be present on 'Shravana' nakshhatra on Full Moon day.

Example (3): - In the Indian month of 'Ashwin', Moon will be present on 'Ashwini' nakshhatra on Full Moon day.

In the traditional Indian calendar, also known as the Indian Hindu calendar or Panchang , the Desi months are the lunar months that follow a lunisolar system. The names of the Desi months can vary regionally and culturally within India, but here is a commonly recognized list of Desi months according to the Indian calendar:

Chaitra (March - April)
Vaishakha (April - May)
Jyeshtha (May - June)
Ashadha (June - July)
Shravana (July - August)
Bhadrapada (August - September)
